FOUR YEARS!!!

Has it really been 4 years since we went to New York City?  Yes, it has.  4 years ago today was our last day in the city.  (That night we stayed up all night so that we could see one more show and make it to the airport really early the next morning!)

Here's one of my favorite pictures from the trip:

Spring has Sprung!!

It's almost the end of Winter!  YAY!!!!

I just walked down the mailbox and back...no coat.

There was a guy doing landscape work further down the block.

The sun was shining brightly, and...

ah...ah...ah...CHOOOOO!!!!

Yep, it's Spring alright.  *sniff*

Another Film Gig!!

I was a movie star again today.  Okay, not really, but I was involved in another film shoot.  This was a faux infomercial for a video series put out by a local Christian publishing company.  It was called "Really Reliable Rita".  I played a woman who had an over abundance of oranges (literally...there were like hundreds of oranges everywhere.)  An infomercial came on TV about getting rid of over abundances of orange, and I called.  Really Reliable Rita showed up at my door immediately.  She was a wacky inventor type.  She proceeded to show my "son" all these different methods of eradicating oranges.  It ended up with orange goop everywhere and a broken window.  It's really cute!!

I was only in the first scene and then the very last shot, so I sat around a lot.  Luckily for me, I always carry a book in my purse.  So I kept myself occupied.

It was a lot of fun, and I got paid in oranges!  Just kidding...I did get paid actual money.  And I got a bag of oranges.

Naming Contest!!!

I got a brand new laptop!  It's so pretty!  I am trying to decide on a name.  Yes, it needs a name.  (My car is named Winnifred and my iPod is named Tiernan.)  I can't decide on the right name.  Here are the choices:

Aldolpho
Fabrizio
Fiyero
Marius
Cornelius

(In case you don't know, the shows represented are, respectively, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Light in the Piazza, Wicked, Les Miserables, & Hello, Dolly!)

Please vote for your favorite.  You may also write in another name, but it must be from Musical Theatre.  Or Opera.

The Thankful Blog - Birthday Edition

Things I'm thankful for today (in no particular order):

  • That Facebook announces my birthday, so I get birthday wishes from so many of my wonderful friends who might have otherwise not known it was my birthday!
  • My brand new cou-niece Kinley, who I get to meet very soon!
  • Friends who are much younger than me and make me feel young (except for Jordan...who makes me feel old because he was born when I was in high school.)
  • Okay, okay...I'm thankful for Jordan.
  • My latest Student Loan statement.  It shows a total balance of $240.00.
  • Finally paying off my student loan!
  • The fact that Spring is almost here!  (My allergies have reminded me of that a lot this week, for which I am NOT thankful.)
  • Britni...for giving me the opportunity to sing a song that blew the roof off the Rialto a few weeks ago.
  • My voice...for being healthy enough to sing that song.
  • The circumstances which allow me to go to England in 5 weeks.
  • Pizza Hut...for having a special last night of $10 per pizza, any pizza!
  • Emily, Rebekah, and George for being adorably awesome!
  • My family!
  • Sonic...for creating Cherry Limeades
  • The creators of LOST
  • Hugh Jackman.  Yeah, just Hugh Jackman
  • And finally....the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  Without it, I'd be in big trouble!  We all would!!

The Oscars Blog

Just finished watching the Oscars.  Here are my thoughts:
  • Loving Sandra Bullock's dress!
  • Nice jacket, NPH.
  • Opening number = nice!  Very classic old Hollywood.
  • Damn/Dame Helen Mirren = LOL!
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predicitions - 1 for 1 (Christoph Waltz)
  • Loved the animated characters talking about being nominated.
  • And the winner is:  UP!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Miley Cyrus' dress = bad
  • Wait...what?  They aren't performing the original songs?!  What the heck!!!  LAME!!!!!!!!!!
  • Tina Fey + Robert Downey Jr. = FUNNY!!!!!!!!!
  • Molly Ringwald & Matthew Broderick?  Have we returned to the 80s?  Ah...John Hughes tribute.  Yes, we have returned to the 80s.
  • HA HA HA HA Avatar Ben Stiller!!!!!!!!!
  • Yay for Star Trek winning Best Make-up!  That one was pretty much a given.
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 2 for 2 (Mo'Nique)
  • Sarah Jessica Parker looks awful.
  • Best Costumes:  The Young Victoria.  HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!  I adore that movie!
  • Could have done without the tribute to Horror movies, thanks.  (And since when is Twilight a horror movie?  Or Young Frankenstein?)
  • Still loving Sandra Bullock's dress!
  • Very impressive dancing - best original score montage.  But seriously...couldn't they have performed all the original songs?  No, I'm not going to let that one go.  Boo.
  • Yay Michael Giacchino!!!  (Up: Best Original Score)
  • Why does George Clooney not look happy to be there?  Are we boring you, George?
  • Host Report Card as of 9:10 pm:  B-  (I give them a hearty Meh on a scale of Gag to ROFL!!)
  • Okay, the wall of lampshades is a little bizarre.  Just sayin'.
  • Sound Report Card as of 9:15 pm:  D+  (Not as bad as the Tonys, which got an F-)
  • You know, I still haven't been given a compelling enough reason to see Avatar.  (Aka Fernsmurfahontas)
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 3 for 3 (Jeff Bridges)
  • Peter Sarsgaard scares the crap out of me.  I've only ever seen him play creepers!!!
  • I heart Stanley Tucci.
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 4 for 4 (Sandra Bullock)  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Don't care to see The Hurt Locker, but yay for the first woman winning Best Director!
  • Did they REALLY need to nominate 10 movies for Best Picture?  Doesn't that just spread out the votes too much?
  • Yes, it did.  Up should have won.  Or The Blind Side.  Wait....they wouldn't have been nominated if there had only been 5 nominees.  NEVER MIND!!!
Wrapping up:  Okay, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I give the show a 6.  No surprises.  Overall, pretty funny, but severely lacking in Hugh Jackman.

10 Years Ago Today

Ten years ago today, I gave my Senior Recital at UNC!  Crazy!!  Has it really been 10 years?!  Yes...yes, it has.  Wow.

Here is a copy of the program:

Good times!!!

And now I'm talking about doing another recital this year!  Probably in May.  Stay tuned.

My Forever Theme Song

Part Seven in the Continuing Series "The Soundtrack of my Life":

MEG:
If there's a prize for rotten judgment
I guess I've already won that
No man is worth the aggravation
That's ancient history, been there, done that!

MUSES:
Who'd'ya think you're kiddin'
He's the Earth and heaven to you
Try to keep it hidden
Honey, we can see right through you
Girl, ya can't conceal it
We know how ya feel and
Who you're thinking of

MEG:
No chance, no way
I won't say it, no, no

MUSES:
You swoon, you sigh
why deny it, uh-oh

MEG:
It's too cliche
I won't say I'm in love

I thought my heart had learned its lesson
It feels so good when you start out
My head is screaming get a grip, girl
Unless you're dying to cry your heart out
Oh

MUSES:
You keep on denying
Who you are and how you're feeling
Baby, we're not buying
Hon, we saw ya hit the ceiling
Face it like a grown-up
When ya gonna own up
That ya got, got, got it bad

MEG:
No chance, now way
I won't say it, no, no

MUSES:
Give up, give in
Check the grin you're in love

MEG:
This scene won't play,
I won't say I'm in love

MUSES:
You're doin flips read our lips
You're in love

MEG:
You're way off base
I won't say it
Get off my case
I won't say it

MUSES:
Girl, don't be proud
It's O.K. you're in love

MEG:
Oh
At least out loud,
I won't say I'm in love
