Oscar Nominations - Instant Reactions

I'm about to read the full list of Oscar Nominations!  This is exciting for me.  Probably not as exciting for you, but that's your loss.  ;)

Best Picture:
Wow, of the 9 movies nominated, I've seen 2.  Lincoln and Les Miserables.  But I do want to see The Life of Pi.  I don't care about the others.  Most are Rated R.

Best Supporting Actor:
I was correct in my prediction of Tommy Lee Jones.  He is SO GREAT in Lincoln!

Best Supporting Actress:
I correctly predicted Sally Field and Anne Hathaway...and Anne is going to win.

Best Actor:
Daniel Day-Lewis vs. Hugh Jackman...and some other great actors who won't win.

Best Actress:
Ha!  I correctly predicted Jennifer Lawrence, just not for the right movie.

Best Animated Feature:
Have there been 5 nominees before?  That's cool!  I correctly guessed 3 of them!

Best Music (Original Song):
I'm glad they nominated "Suddenly" from Les Miserables.  It's a great song!  I hope they have Hugh sing it at the ceremony!

I did notice that there is a movie nominated for both Best Picture and Best Foreign Feature.  I don't think that happens very often.  Interesting.

It's going to be a good year at the Oscars!

10th Annual Oscar Nomination Predictions

I can't believe this is the 10th time I've done this.  I really need to get a life.  But that's beside the point.

Here we go...Oscar Nomination Predictions based solely on movies I have seen:

Best Actor:
Hugh Jackman - Les Miserables
Daniel Day-Lewis - Lincoln
Martin Freeman - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Clint Eastwood - Trouble With the Curve
Daniel Radcliffe - The Woman in Black

Notes:  Critics didn't care for Trouble with the Curve very much, but I liked it.  The Woman in Black wasn't that great of a movie, but Harry Potter did a good job.  The Oscar will either go to Hugh Jackman or Daniel Day-Lewis.  Most likely Daniel, but Hugh was A-MAY-ZING in Les Miz!  And I just can't say enough good things about Martin Freeman.  And The Hobbit, too.  But Martin Freeman in general.  FANTASTIC ACTOR!!!

Best Actress:
Jennifer Lawrence - The Hunger Games
Amy Adams - Trouble with the Curve

Notes:  Uhh....yeah....so apparently I didn't see very many movies this year with a female in the lead.  Oops!  And I'm sorry, but even though I liked Breaking Dawn Part 2, I really don't want to recognize Kristen Stewart.  She's getting better, but....yeeeeeeeah.....no.

Best Supporting Actor:
Richard Armitage - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Ian McKellan - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Robert Downey, Jr. - The Avengers
Tommy Lee Jones - Lincoln
Eddie Redmayne - Les Miserables

Notes:  Honestly, I think Tommy Lee Jones is going to win this.  He was PHENOMENAL in Lincoln.  But I just HAD to give a nod to Mr. Hottie McHotterson himself, Richard Armitage.  Hot.

Best Supporting Actress:
Anne Hathaway - Les Miserables
Sally Field - Lincoln
Cate Blanchett - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Samantha Barks - Les Miserables

Notes:  Anne Hathaway will win this.  No question.  But really, Sally Field is deserving, as well.  She was wonderful as Mary Todd Lincoln.  (But once again, I watched a lot of "Boys" movies this year.)

Best Animated Feature:
Brave
The Pirates:  Band of Misfits
Wreck it Ralph

Notes:  I'm sure Brave will win, but Wreck it Ralph was super cute!

Best Picture:
Les Miserables
Lincoln
The Hobbit:  An Unexpected Journey
The Hunger Games
The Avengers

Notes:  I really think this should go to Les Miz, but I think it might go to Lincoln.  Both are extraordinary!  And I think they will wait to honor The Hobbit until after the 3rd movie comes out.  They'll honor the trilogy, just like they did with The Lord of the Rings.

General Notes:  Please remember that these are based only on the movies that I saw.  And I actually didn't see a lot of movies this year.  Too busy and not enough money!
