New Dancing with the Stars Cast

The new cast has been announced!  Here are my immediate reactions upon seeing the names:

Chelsea Kane:
I don't know who that is.

Petra Nemcova:
I don't know who that is, either!

Ralph Macchio:
Now this guy I know!  Hello, Daniel-san!!!

Romeo:
As in Romeo & Juliet?  What?

Sugar Ray Leonard:
Cool!  Wait...how old is he?

Chris Jerico:
Never heard of him.

Hines Ward:
Never heard of him.

Kendra Wilkinson:
This season's token Playboy Bunny.

Kirstie Alley:
Really?

Mike Catherwood:
Who?

Wendy Williams:
I usually change the channel when her talk show comes on at 11.

So, I'm guessing that Christine "I'm Not a Witch" O'Donnell said no, then?  And in case you're wondering, I will be rooting for Ralph Macchio!!!

Oscar Blog 2011

  • Cool intro!!!  Excellent use of "Hall of the Mountain King".
  • The Dance of the Brown Duck....LOVE IT!!!
  • 10 points for the use of Back to the Future!!!
  • Kirk Douglas is adorable!!!!
  • Toy Story 3 WINS!!!!!!  Not a surprise, and VERY MUCH DESERVED!!!!!  Amazing, amazing movie.
  • Josh Brolin & Javier Bardem should have called each other before they came.  They are both wearing the same thing!!!
  • Anne's Anti-Hugh Jackman Ballad...LOVED IT!!
  • James Franco in a dress = scary!!!
  • Congrats to Jack Kelly on his Oscar.  Now he's gonna get his picture in the papes!
  • Very appropriate that the tribute to Original Score should feature mostly John Williams.
  • Cate Blanchett is right:  "That's gross."  But "Gross" make-up wins!!
  • I'm glad they are performing the nominated songs.  Sometimes they don't do that.
  • Chuck sings!!!  I think we need a musical episode of Chuck.  I think Casey would be a lovely basso profundo.
  • Movie musicals made from non-musicals.  O...M...G.....!!!!!  ROFL!!!!!!!!!!
  • I think that Anne will be invited back to host again, but not James.  He's been way too stiff.
  • And the Oscar goes to...Mr. Darcy!!!!!!!!!  I ♥ Colin Firth!!!!
  • I'm glad that The King's Speech won.  Now it just needs to come out on DVD so I can watch it!!
  • Overall a great show, with a few kinks.  Would have been better if Hugh Jackman hosted, but that's my argument every year.

Favorite Superbowl Commercials, 2011 Edition

1:  Coca Cola Confetti-Breathing Dragon (Great use of Overture 1812!)
2:  Miniature Darth Vader
3:  Bridgestone Tire Beaver
4:  Old Western Bar channels Elton John
5:  Coca Cola Border Crossing
6:  Groupon (both Timothy Hutton and Elizabeth Hurley versions)
7:  Car Max Gas Station
8:  NFL Best Fans (featuring NFL gear on TV Icons)
9:  Mini USA (mainly because it had Kirby Heyborne in it....and the commercial led to a hilarious conversation about renaming the car the "Maxi".)
10:  Glee singing "See the USA in your Chevrolet"

It wasn't the best year for commercials as a whole, but there were some funny ones.

The Book of Mormon: The Musical????

Before anyone goes to see "The Book of Mormon: The Musical" (from the creators of South Park), I highly recommend you read the book.  I can get you a copy if you'd like.  Just ask. :)
