The Oscars Blog

Just finished watching the Oscars.  Here are my thoughts:
  • Loving Sandra Bullock's dress!
  • Nice jacket, NPH.
  • Opening number = nice!  Very classic old Hollywood.
  • Damn/Dame Helen Mirren = LOL!
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predicitions - 1 for 1 (Christoph Waltz)
  • Loved the animated characters talking about being nominated.
  • And the winner is:  UP!!  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Miley Cyrus' dress = bad
  • Wait...what?  They aren't performing the original songs?!  What the heck!!!  LAME!!!!!!!!!!
  • Tina Fey + Robert Downey Jr. = FUNNY!!!!!!!!!
  • Molly Ringwald & Matthew Broderick?  Have we returned to the 80s?  Ah...John Hughes tribute.  Yes, we have returned to the 80s.
  • HA HA HA HA Avatar Ben Stiller!!!!!!!!!
  • Yay for Star Trek winning Best Make-up!  That one was pretty much a given.
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 2 for 2 (Mo'Nique)
  • Sarah Jessica Parker looks awful.
  • Best Costumes:  The Young Victoria.  HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!  I adore that movie!
  • Could have done without the tribute to Horror movies, thanks.  (And since when is Twilight a horror movie?  Or Young Frankenstein?)
  • Still loving Sandra Bullock's dress!
  • Very impressive dancing - best original score montage.  But seriously...couldn't they have performed all the original songs?  No, I'm not going to let that one go.  Boo.
  • Yay Michael Giacchino!!!  (Up: Best Original Score)
  • Why does George Clooney not look happy to be there?  Are we boring you, George?
  • Host Report Card as of 9:10 pm:  B-  (I give them a hearty Meh on a scale of Gag to ROFL!!)
  • Okay, the wall of lampshades is a little bizarre.  Just sayin'.
  • Sound Report Card as of 9:15 pm:  D+  (Not as bad as the Tonys, which got an F-)
  • You know, I still haven't been given a compelling enough reason to see Avatar.  (Aka Fernsmurfahontas)
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 3 for 3 (Jeff Bridges)
  • Peter Sarsgaard scares the crap out of me.  I've only ever seen him play creepers!!!
  • I heart Stanley Tucci.
  • Keeping Score:  Acting Winner Predictions - 4 for 4 (Sandra Bullock)  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Don't care to see The Hurt Locker, but yay for the first woman winning Best Director!
  • Did they REALLY need to nominate 10 movies for Best Picture?  Doesn't that just spread out the votes too much?
  • Yes, it did.  Up should have won.  Or The Blind Side.  Wait....they wouldn't have been nominated if there had only been 5 nominees.  NEVER MIND!!!
Wrapping up:  Okay, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I give the show a 6.  No surprises.  Overall, pretty funny, but severely lacking in Hugh Jackman.
